2004 - 05 Officers
President : Joan Chow
Hi
Hi everyone! I am a Junior with a Chemical Biology major. Although I do
not feel like being an upper classman at all, please DO NOT mistaken me
as a freshmen (or younger) as people always have =P. If you have come
to SHKCA last year you might probably recognize me because I was the event
coordinator last year. Anyway, let me give you guys some background about
myself. I was born and raised in Hong Kong until I came here to the US
for high school. I started attending SHKCA in my freshmen year (Aw man,
seems like it was such a long time ago) and I found out it was a very
informative club, unlike other clubs where there are only social events
involved. Through this club, I am able to expose to more knowledge on
Chinese culture, business and economy. Having been the officer for two
consecutive years, I feel honored to continue serving SHKCA. Through our
talks and social events, I hope newcomers and old members can bond more
strongly. AND OF COURSE, WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TONS OF FUN! SO COME JOIN
OUR CLUB NOW!!
Vice President : Ronnie Feng
Hi,
my name is Ronnie. I am a 3rd year Chemical Engineering major undergraduate.
Immigrating from Guangdong, China to America was the biggest transition
in my life. Although now I am far from China, I am still fascinated by
her rapid development. Having been educated in the Chinese educational
system, I deeply adopted the pride of preserving Chinese culture. Since
SHKCA is such a great environment for both learning and discussing the
issues relating China and Hong Kong, I feel glad to be part of the team!
Treasurer: Bonnie Jim
Hi
everyone. My name is Bonnie Jim and I am a 2nd year intended Economics
major. I started attending SHKCA meeting last year and found out that
SHKCA is a really interesting and distinctive club. Not only I can make
good friends in this club, I can also explore different aspects of Chinese
issues related to history, art, politics, business and economics. This
is a good opportunity for me and you to stay informed. The fun social
activities also provide great opportunity for me to get to know you better.
I am really excited to join the SHKCA officer team. I look forward to
seeing every one of you in our meetings. Feel free to stop by at our SHKCA
table and check it out.
External Executive Secretary:
Yvonne Chan

Internal Executive Secretary: Peter Ho
Welcome to SHKCA! A superb academic plus social club in Berkeley. My name
is Peter, and I am currently a senior double majoring in economics and
applied mathematics. As an international student from Hong Kong, I feel
happy for being able to join and serve in a club that consists of intelligent
and motivated people who are interested in China and the place where I
was born and raised. I joined SHKCA in last semester, and I learned a
lot from its insightful talks, especially the ones about China's popular
culture and law reform. Its social events, like the games night, were
fun and provided a good place for you to know other super cool people
who shared your interest. Therefore, join SHKCA and come to our events,
and you will find this will be invaluable experience in your college life.
Historian : Kevin Lee
Probably you have known many "Kevin Lee" in your life, and you
really get bored of hearing this name again. But well, here comes one
more from the awesome SHKCA officer team. Ni Hao, my name is ... as you
expected ... Kevin Lee. I am a 3rd year IE undergraduate student at CAL
and currently being a part time photographer in SHKCA. Besides this basic
info, I am also recognized as a 99% fob and 1% ABC American Chinese. Haha¡
That means I speak fluent in both Cantonese and mandarin. (But not in
English) =P I think this is just so cool and unique about me. =P (j/k)
I guess my fobness becomes part of the reasons that I join this club.
Because this fascinating SHKCA club provides me a chance to know about
all kinds of issues in china, it really fits my character as being a fob.
In addition to this, (guys listen to this =) ), there are many CUTE girl
officers in this club¡.(some of our members too). So you see, what else
can be better than to come to our club's event and become our members?
I hope to see you in our event, and or else.. hehe, I think you will be
soooo FRUSTRATED. ^__*
Event Coordinator : June Huang
Hi
Cal Bears! My name is June. I am currently a Junior majoring in Economics.
I will be your Event Coordinator this semester. I was born and raised
in China. I came to the U.S. 7 years ago when I was still in middle school.
Thus, I have never had an in-depth knowledge about my country or my culture.
When I started attending Berkeley, I was fortunate enough to join SHKCA,
where I am given the opportunity to learn about varies issues relating
to China and Hong Kong. Besides being more academically enriched, SHKCA
is also a very "warm" club, where you might meet some of the
life-long friends in your life, just I like did. So, why hesitate? Come
to our event and give it a try.
Webmaster: Dennis Wu
Hey,
everyone! Let me just say this: “My name is Dennis. I am currently
studying in UC Berkeley, majoring in Architecture. And ya di ya da…”
Sounds familiar? Anyway, just kidding, but seriously, my name is Dennis
and I really am a UC Berkeley registered student. In the past summer,
I had an internship in Beijing, China. I am more than happy to share with
all of you in person about the detail of this trip. But one thing that
I definitely have to say here is the richness of Chinese culture. Just
take a glimpse of the Chinese artifacts and its literature. Incredible!
I would even say overwhelming. I don’t know if you have such strong
sensation about Chinese culture as I do. Maybe I am exaggerating, or maybe
it is because I am an Architecture major student. But I believe people
that have the same interests will eventually gather. That’s the
reason I am one of the officer in SHKCA. It is the passion that drives
me toward this club and it is the same passion that urges me to serve
this club. Thus, I am thrilled to one of them. Haha… Do I sound
a bit serious or intimidating? Or maybe you think that I must be some
psycho on the street? Come check out our club event. Stop by at our table
in Sproul Hall and find out more this legendary club and the eccentric
officer! It is going be unforgettable experience!~~
Publicity: Joyce Leung
My
name is Joyce Leung, and I am a Junior majoring in Molecular & Cells
Biology (MCB). I grew up in Hong Kong and moved to the U.S. eight years
ago. I found this club fascinating because I really enjoy the small group
environment of SHKCA, which enables me to know everyone better. Furthermore,
this club is very academic, because we invite professors from different
fields to talk about the controversial issues in Hong Kong and China.
As the publicity for the club, I enjoy working with the officers in SHKCA,
because they are friendly, cheerful, delegated, and cooperative. I heard
about this club from my lovely roommate, Jun Jun ^_^!!! She told me a
lot about her excited experience in SHKCA. Anyway, if you are interested
in our club, please come to our events and you will find me wearing the
cute black “I am…Cal Bear” shirt!!!
