Guidelines for the SHKCA Internship Program

        The purpose of the Society of Hong Kong and Chinese Affairs Internship Program (SHKCA Internship Program) is to allow SHKCA members to better understand and the organization and its officers.  The internship program is designed to allow members to actively participate and to assist in planning various events of the organization.  Through the internship program, interns will gain a greater understanding of the functions of the organization.

Requirements in becoming a SHKCA intern:

  1. He or she must be a current member of the Society of Hong Kong and Chinese Affairs defined in the SHKCA constitution.
  2. He or she must assist in planning a minimum of one (1) SHKCA event. He or she is to provide assistance to SHKCA officers in setting up the classroom, carrying items or food to the location of the event.
  3. He or she must attend a minimum of three (3) officer meetings, two (2) of which must involve the planning of the event that he or she has volunteered for.
  4. He or she must attend a minimum of three (3) SHKCA club events of his or her choice.  The event listed under requirement number 2 may be counted towards as one of the three events.
  5. He or she must assist in tabling on Sproul Plaza a minimum of once a month or a total of three times within one academic semester.

In addition, there shall be no more than two (2) interns per event.  Each SHKCA officer shall have no more than two (2) interns for his or her respective position.  Interns that meet the minimum requirements shall receive a letter of recognition from the Society of Hong Kong and Chinese Affairs no later than the last event of each academic semester. Statements listed above are only the minimum requirements. Interns are welcome to perform beyond the requirements.
